International Mangrove Center Officially Launches in Shenzhen; Countries Jointly Promote Coastal Blue Carbon Conservation

Recently, the International Mangrove Center officially started physical operation in Shenzhen with its council meeting successfully convened. As a vital international cooperation platform for global mangrove conservation, the center attracts numerous countries and institutions across Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Mangroves are typical coastal wetland ecosystems. They can defend against coastal erosion, preserve marine biodiversity and sequester carbon dioxide, serving as critical global blue carbon carriers. Relying on this platform, participating countries will share wetland restoration technologies, conduct joint monitoring and exchange experience in seedling cultivation and ecological governance.
